| Spanish abstract | El propósito general de esta investigación fue determinar la diversidad de especies vegetales que el habitante de Barreras (Azua), incluye en sus cultivos. Se utilizaron la metodología y actividades propias de los estudios etnobotánicos en las modalidades cualitativa y cuantitativa. Para caracterizar los conucos se describieron, se midieron y se determinó su diversidad florística y botánica a través de la abundancia y diversidad de especies. Las plantas fueron identificadas in situ. Se estableció la correlación entre el tamaño de la parcela o conuco y el número de individuos y especies que contiene. El tamaño de los conucos fluctuó entre 1,57 m2 y 4,488.5 m2 , con una flora vascular compuesta por 182 especies con siete tipos biológicos. Se reportan diez tipos de usos definidos por el barrereño |
| English abstract | The overall purpose of this research was to determine the diversity of plant species dweller Barreras (Azua), included in their crops. Methodology and own activities of ethnobotanical studies in the qualitative and quantitative methods were used. To characterize the conucos were described, measured and determined its flora and botanical diversity through the abundance and diversity of species. Plants were identified in situ. The correlation between the size of the conuco and the number of individuals and species it contains are established.
