| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo refiere los principios y cánones con que operó la Inquisición del Santo Oficio. Ese universo jurídico inquisitorial, antes ultra secreto, lo utilicé para analizar el proceso que la Inquisición novohispana, con fray Juan de Zumárraga a la cabeza, incoó en contra del indígena texcocano de la estirpe yoyontzin, nieto de Nezahualcoyotl, llamado Chichimecatecotl, quien fue condenado y ejecutado en la hoguera. Otro de mis objetivos es saber si Zumárraga condenó y ejecutó a Chichimecatecotl cumpliendo las normas inquisitoriales o violándolas. Si la presente investigación también se utiliza para comparar el sistema inquisitorial que estuvo vigente durante los siglos XV, XVI y XVII, con su homólogo acusatorio que está implementándose actualmente en América Latina, puede que haya sorpresas |
| English abstract | This work concerns the principles and canons which operated the Inquisition of the Holy Office. That inquisitorial legal universe, before top-secret, it was used to analyze the process that New Spain Inquisition, with Fray Juan de Zumarraga to head, initiated against texcocan indigenous of the race yoyontzin, grandson of Nezahualcoyotl, called Chichimecatecotl, who was convicted and executed at the stake. Another objective is to know if Zumarraga convicted and executed him according to the standards inquisitorial or not. If this research is also used to compare the inquisitorial system that was in force during the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, with its accusatory counterpart that is currently being implemented in Latin America, there may be surprises |
