Resumen en inglés | The objective of this research was determining the internal factors associated to nurse absenteeism in a private sector health institution in Carabobo State. It was a field descriptive study. The population consisted in 15 nurses. Data was collected through a questionnaire, designed with a dichotomous scale and 28 questions. The data collected was represented graphicly, and the following results were obtained: a) motivation is the most relevant factor in nurse absenteeism, b) employee absenteeism may have or not a justification, c) employee absenteeism results in problems within organizational groups and job performance, and d) absenteeism creates a bad job environment that poses obstacles to reaching goals. It is therefore recommended that the institution implements strategies through an action plan aimed at decreasing and preventing employee absenteeism |
