| Resumen en español | En este artículo analizamos el papel del liderazgo en el establecimiento de instituciones científicas en un contexto de descentralización de las capacidades científicas a finales de 1970. Estudiamos la convergencia de tres liderazgos cuyas acciones contribuyeron al establecimiento de un proyecto científico en el sureste de México: la creación de la Unidad Mérida del Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Cinvestav), en 1980. Es uno de los primeros centros de investigación científica en Yucatán, y está vinculado a la atención de problemas sociales relevantes para la región. Partimos de la perspectiva de los estudios sociales de la ciencia, de los procesos de institucionalización de campos científicos y diversas nociones sobre liderazgo. El análisis está basado en fuentes periodísticas, investigaciones y documentos sobre los contextos nacional, local e institucional, la política de descentralización científica y las trayectorias de los líderes involucrados en el proyecto. |
| Resumen en inglés | This paper analyzes the role of leadership in the establishment of scientific institutions in the context of the decentralization of scientific capacities carried out throughout the late 1970s. In order to do this, we examine the convergence of three leaderships whose actions contributed to the establishment of a scientific project in southeastern Mexico: the creation of the Merida Unit of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV by its acronym in Spanish), in 1980. This was one of the first scientific research centers ever established in Yucatán and it is focused on the attention to relevant social problems within the region. The analysis sets off from the perspective of the social studies of science, the processes of institutionalization of scientific fields and various notions surrounding leadership. Furthermore, it is based on journalistic sources, research and documents on the national, local and institutional contexts, the policies for scientific decentralization and the trajectories of the leaders involved in the project. |
