| Spanish abstract | El presente artículo presenta los lineamientos generales para una teoría del “policial costumbrista” colombiano a partir de Perder es cuestión de método (1997) de Santiago Gamboa. Tras un estudio de la transformación de las convenciones del género negro y su fusión con elementos de un cuadro de costumbres, se propone un modelo para elucidar la relación entre el texto literario y el imaginario del crimen en Colombia. Así, se interpreta el motivo de la pérdida en tanto alegoría nacional y se lo compara con casos similares en América Latina. Finalmente, se analiza el papel de los medios de comunicación y del fútbol dentro de la obra y se sugieren líneas de investigación con respecto a otras narrativas contemporáneas |
| English abstract | This paper presents the general guidelines of a theory about costumbrista detective fiction in Colombia based on Santiago Gamboa’s work Perder es cuestión de método (1997). It studies the ways in which the novel transforms the conventions of noir by articulating them with elements from a cuadro de costumbres. It claims that the cultural relevance of such a transformation lies in its contributions to a better understanding of the relationship between literary texts and the imaginary of crime in Colombia. It interprets the motif of loss in the work as a national allegory, and compares it with similar cases in Latin America. It analyzes the role of media and soccer in the novel, and suggests further lines of research in regard to other contemporary works |
