| Spanish abstract | El México decimonónico en sus últimas décadas, transitó por cambios políticos que dirigieron el país hacia la modernidad. La infraestructura tanto económica como tecnológica permitió que se emplearan materiales como el hierro, y en su caso el cemento armado, para la edificación de obras públicas monumentales. También dichos materiales fueron empleados en obras de carácter doméstico. Existen diversos edificios en pie que muestran la técnica del uso de esos materiales, que para el siglo xix eran sumamente novedosos y que reanimaron las discusiones sobre la estética arquitectónica, imponiéndose su utilización. Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar el trabajo arquitectónico de Emilio Dondé y el uso que le dio al hierro industrial, centrando mi atención en algunos elementos arquitectónicos, como tragaluces (cubiertas), escaleras y barandales |
| English abstract | In the final decades of the nineteenth century, political changes ushered Mexico into modernity. Economic and technological infrastructure made it possible to use innovative construction materials such as iron and reinforced cement for the construction of monumental public works. These materials were also employed in domestic construction. Diverse buildings remain standing that show the technique of the use of these materials, which by the nineteenth century were completely innovative and gave new life to the debate on architectural aesthetics, finally imposing its use. The aim of this work is to analyze the architectural work of Emilio Dondé and the way he used industrial iron, focusing attention on architectural elements, such as skylights, stairways, and railings |
