| Spanish abstract | En este trabajo se indaga sobre el conocimiento popular y el uso de tres frutas silvestres de Passiflora L. (Passifloraceae) del norte de Perú, utilizadas en la alimentación humana. Se registraron las especies de frutas, el lugar, época de recolección y formas de uso de cada una. Se entrevistaron a 20 informantes, los que mencionaron tres nombres populares. Las especies que se reportan son: P. foetida L. “granadilla de culebra”, que habita en regiones bajas de la costa y el oriente; P. peduncularis Cav. “poro poro”, “puro puro”, que crece en áreas altas de los Andes alrededor de los 3000 m de elevación y P. salpoense S. Leiva & Tantalean “puro puro”, “poro poro”, endémica del distrito Salpo entre los 3450-3490 m de elevación. Adicionalmente a las descripciones, se presentan las ilustraciones y fotografías correspondientes, se discuten sus relaciones con otra especie afín e incluyen datos sobre etnobotánica, distribución geográfica y ecología, fenología, estado actual y usos de la especie |
| English abstract | In this paper we report the common knowledge and use for human feeding of three wild fruits of Passiflora L. (Passifloraceae) from Northern Peru. We registered the fruit species, location, harvest period and uses of each one. We interviewed 20 informants who mentioned three common names. The reported species are: P. foetida L. “snake’s granadilla” which inhabits lowlands in the coast and jungle regions; P. peduncularis Cav. “poro poro”, “puro puro” grows in the highlands of the Andes at around 3000 m of elevation and P. salpoense S. Leiva & Tantalean “puro puro”, “poro poro” which is endemic of Salpo District between 3450-3490 m of elevation. In addition to the descriptions, we present the respective illustrations and photographies, we discuss their relations with allied species and we include data about ethnobotany, geographic range, ecology, phenology, current status and uses of the species |
