| Resumen en español | Este artículo analiza el origen de los chinacos, así como su construcción visual en la litografía y pintura en nuestro país. Asimismo, estudia la imagen que tuvo en Europa, concretamente en Francia a través de los diarios Le Charivari y Le Monde Illustré, y en las litografías sueltas que se imprimieron en la ciudad de Épinal. La temática y el sentido de estas fuentes comunica diferentes concepciones del personaje. La perspectiva mexicana brinda algunos aspectos de su indumentaria. Las representaciones de Le Monde Illustré y de Épinal muestran una versión digna del guerrillero mexicano, así como sus habilidades en combate; Le Charivari, por su parte, siguiendo su línea de caricaturas y editoriales burlescas, les entregó a sus lectores un estereotipo ridículo, pero no para hacer burla de él, sino del presunto lazo cultural entre los dos países |
| Resumen en inglés | This article aims to analyze the origin of the “Chinacos”, and from there know the visual construction of this character in lithography and painting in our country. After this iconic approach, we will analyze the image that was taken of this one in Europe, specifically in France through the newspapers Le Charivari and Le Monde Illustré, and in the loose lithographs that were printed in the city of Epinal. The theme and meaning of each of these sources allows us to observe different conceptions of the character in question. The Mexican perspective provides the possibility to know in detail some aspects of his clothing. For their part, the representations from Le Monde Illustré and Epinal show us a worthy version of the Mexican guerrilla, as well as his skills in combat; , for his part, following his line of burlesque caricatures and editorials, gave his readers a ridiculous stereotype, but not to make fun of him, but to make fun of him, but of the alleged cultural bond between the two countries |
