Resumen en inglés Lip and cracked palate is a congenital malformation that occurs between the sixth and tenth week of intrauterine life, during the formation of the pre-maxilla and the lip. Orthopedics pre-operative is a treatment which involves the use of devices that allow the stimulation and bone remodeling of the nasal segments, alveolar and palatal cleft, decreasing the size of the cracks during the first 3 months of life, shaping it as close to the normal Anatomy before surgery for cleft lip and palate (LPH). Objectives. To publicize the benefits of early treatment with prior orthopedics surgery in neonates at Regional Hospital of high specialty of the children "Dr. Rodolfo Nieto Padrón"; and to know the reduction in the severity of cleft lip and palate unilateral and bilateral and identify degree of effectiveness of the sealing plate and stimulating with nasal Modeler in the approximation of lip and palate cleft maxillary and nasal segments. Material and methods. there were made, with 26 children with unilateral LPH, a quasi-experimental study (14 infants) and bilateral (infants 12). This was the prior orthopedics surgery in neonates with Modeler nasal type hook method, plates stimulatory Grayson sealing with modification of Friedman and setting of device by the Pediatric Dentistry service on a weekly basis. The results were analyzed with descriptive statistics and SPSS V. 19 system and student's t test. Results. Reduction in the severity of the unilateral and bilateral LPH was observed in the first month of treatment, the nasal component decreased 0. 24 mm, the labial component did not diminish, the right primary palatal component decreased 1.48 mm and the left primary palatal component decreased 3.11 mm and the Palatine secondary component decreased 2.32 mm
