| Resumen en inglés | A prospective descriptive study on the clinical epidemiological behavior of facial trauma in the Pediatric Teaching Hospital "Pedro A. Pérez" was carried out from November 2010 to November 2011, the universe of study is composed of 326 children who come to the doctor Of maxillofacial lesions, taking as a source the worksheets adapted for the investigation in this period and the medical histories. The variables are studied: age and sex, cause, type of trauma, type of fracture as well as the interrelation between them. Falls in various ways constitute (65.6%) of the total causes of injuries; the male sex represented by 77 patients (38.8%) is the most affected. The (62.2%) of the total types of injuries, corresponds to the contusions; 30.3% to the wounds and only 7.3% of the total for facial fractures. |
| Resumen en español | Se realiza un estudio descriptivo prospectivo sobre el comportamiento clínico epidemiológico del traumatismo facial en el Hospital Pediátrico Docente "Pedro A. Pérez" desde noviembre del 2010 a noviembre de 2011, el universo de estudio está integrado por 326 niños que acuden al cuerpo de guardia aquejados de lesiones máxilo faciales, tomando como fuente las hojas de cargos adaptadas para la investigación en este periodo y las historias clínicas. Las variables a estudiar son: edad y sexo, causa, tipo de traumatismo, tipo de fractura así como la interrelación entre ellas. Las caídas de diversas maneras constituyen el (65.6 %) del total de las causas de traumatismos; el sexo masculino representado por 77 pacientes (38.8 %) es el más afectado. El (62.2 %) del total de tipos de traumatismos, le corresponde a las contusiones; el 30.3 % a las heridas y solo un 7.3 % del total para las fracturas faciales. |
