| Resumen en inglés | On a holiday trip to the Middle East, we last visited as part of a tour, the Library of Alexandria.The city founded by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C. is today the second city as well as the biggest port of Egypt. The city has a new library opened in October 16, 2002.The library has the shape of a raising sun and it is situated almost in the same place as the old one, on the East port of Alexandria on the banks of the Mediterranean.The library currently has 500.000 volumes but it has the capacity to store more than 8 million books. |
| Resumen en español | Un viaje de vacaciones por el Medio Oriente, nos llevó como culminación de la gira, a visitar la Biblioteca de Alejandría.La ciudad fundada por Alejandro Magno en el 332 a. C, es hoy la segunda ciudad y puerto mayor de Egipto, con una nueva Biblioteca inaugurada el 16 de Octubre de 2002.La biblioteca tiene forma de sol naciente y esta situada aproximadamente en el mismo lugar de la antigua, sobre el puerto Este de Alejandría a orillas del Mediterráneo.Posee 500.000 volúmenes en la actualidad, pero tienen una capacidad para albergar más de ocho millones de libros. |
