| Resumen en inglés | This article is based on data from a survey regarding students' relationship with the common cult ure . Conducted with two schools in the city of Amiens ( France), the research was to investigate if the school allows gating the sense developed by students in relation to citizenship , or, conversely , whether it helps to perpetuate a reading society in term s of boundaries ethnic . The first section of the paper is devoted to explanations of a theoretical nature and terms of debate about the common culture in France . The second part refers to the permanence of ethnic and racial references in the universe schoo l youth . The third section analyzes the ethnic categorizations with the extent of the relationship students have with the common culture . | Resumen en portugués | O presente artigo baseia - se nos dados de uma pesquisa referente à relação dos alunos com a cultura comum. Realizada em dois colégios da cidade de Amiens (França), a pesquisa teve como propósito investigar se a escola permite modular o sentido desenvolvido pelos alunos em relação à cidadania, ou, ao contrário, se contribui para perpetuar uma leitura da sociedade em termo s de fronteiras étnicas. A primeira seção do artigo é dedicada aos esclarecimentos de ordem teórica e aos termos do debate sobre a cultura comum na França. A segunda parte refere - se à permanência dos referenciais étnico - raciais no universo juvenil escolar. Na terceira seção, analisa - se as categorizações étnicas com a medida da relação que os alunos têm com a cultura comum.
