| Resumen en español | Frecuentemente se ha afirmado que sin investigación no hay universidad, y que por tanto la actividad académica no puede limitarse a la transmisión de conocimientos ni a la expedición de títulos. No obstante, la investigación universitaria en nuestro tiempo está expuesta a una serie de contingencias que la tornan problemática: entre otras, una tendencia instrumentalista que busca conectarla a procesos de eficiencia profesional, independientemente de reconocer las finalidades a las que ella sirve; difíciles condiciones para su financiación que la exponen a intereses que desbordan los propiamente académicos; su encasillamiento en temas, asuntos disciplinares y discursos de verdad, que hacen abstracción de los contextos y problemas de los cuales debe dar cuenta. A estos y otros aspectos alude en sus respuestas el profesor Páramo, quien llama la atención sobre la necesidad de que la universidad no pierda el control sobre la generación de conocimientos y la formación de investigadores, y recobre su sentido histórico y cultural desde una reflexión que se atenga al presente, es decir, a las circunstancias actuales de la producción científica y tecnológica así como de la generación de nuevos profesionales |
| Resumen en inglés | It is frequently stated that there is no university without investigation and, therefore, the academic activity should not be restricted to knowledge transmission nor to the issue of academic titles. However, investigation at the university is nowadays exposed to a set of contingencies that make it problematic. Among these, the instrumentalist tendency that seeks to connect investigation to professional efficiency processes; the hard financing conditions that expose research to interests other than the purely academic ones; the boxing in subjects, rules, methods, and thruth discourses which leave aside the contexts and problems that investigation have to state. In his answers, Professor Páramo refers to the above and other aspects, calling the attention on the need for the university to keep the control on the production of knowledge, the education of researchers and the recovering of its historical and cultural sense from a reflection based on the present, that is, on the current circumstances for the scientific and technological production and the generation of new professionals |
