Resumen en inglés | The new "Ultra Thin Flotation" (UTF) has been proved on a pilot scale at different points of Chuquicamata concentrator circuits. Thus obtaining cleane concentrates and tailigs with lower copper and molybdenum contents. In the Chuquicamata Cu-Mo collective flotation circuits conventional Wemco autoaspiration flotation cells with mechanical agitation are used, 1500 ft3 capacity for cleaning flotation. The relation energy consumption is 2 kWh/t. UTF is based on a bubble, particle contact with does not requiee mechanical agitation, producing gravitational descending flow of both, the pulp and air bubbles. Residence time and energy consumptions, are one tenth of that required by conventional flotation cells mechanically agitated. The present work gives results obtained with a 100 l/min continuous pilot UTF flotation cell, used in primary flotation as well as in primary and scavenger tailings |
