| Resumen en español | Los estudios literarios están sumidos en una profunda crisis. Esa crisis es la misma que afecta a todo el campo de las humanidades. El origen de la crisis estriba en que las humanidades nacieron, en su dimensión histórica, en el siglo XIX para contribuir a la construcción de Estados nacionales. Ahora las humanidades deben ser instrumentos para construir la unificación de la humanidad. Deben ser humanidades sin fronteras. En el marco de los estudios literarios esto significa la superación de las antinomias que impiden avanzar la investigación. Esas antinomias son la vieja y la nueva historia literarias, la disyuntiva entre teoría e historia literarias, la confrontación entre formalismo y sociologismo y, sobre todo, el dogma de que la literatura persigue la belleza. Desde Schiller existe una alternativa a este panorama. Esa alternativa se funda en la idea de la forma estética -la forma interior- y en una teoría de la imaginación basada en la filosofía de la historia. | Resumen en inglés | Literary studies are in a deep crisis. That crisis is the same one that affects the entire field of the humanities. Its origin goes back to its birth. Historical Humanities were born in the 19th century to contribute to the construction of national states. At the present time, Humanities must be instruments to build the unification of humanity. They must be humanities without borders. In the context of literary studies, this means overcoming the antinomies that prevent further research. These antinomies are the old and the new literary history, the dilemma between literary theory and history, the confrontation between formalism and sociology and, above all, the dogma that literature pursues beauty. From Schiller, there is an alternative to this overview based on the idea of aesthetic form -the inner form- and on a theory of imagination inspired by the philosophy of history.
