Resumen en inglés | After determining the operation characteristics of boiles used in Mexican sugar mills, operation of a typical bagasse boiler for the whole sugar industry was analyzed. Results of technical evaluation of bagasse drying as an alternative of reduction of additional fuel consumption in a type bagasse boiler in Mexico are presented. This option contemplates to use part of exit gases of the boiler furnace to reduce bagasse humidity in order to improve combustion and steam generation, with the consequent diminution of additional fuel use. Bagasse of lower humidity presents greater Net Calorific Value than the original one and produces in the system of steam generation, with respect to the system whitout dryer, an increase in energy efficiecy of 13.8 points in percentage scale (equivalent to an improvement of 25 % in the generation index) amnd a saving of wet bagasse of 17.7 % that is equivalent too 734 kg/h of fuel oil for a boiler whose steam production ascends to 46 t/h at 17.64 kg/cm2 of effective pressure |
