Resumen en inglés | The effect of five nutrient solutions was evaluated on growth and fruit yield of strawberry plants, cv. Dover, grown in a substrate with fertigation. Experiments were carried out in Santa Maria, Brazil, during 1988 and 1999, in a polyethylene tunnel. Plants were cultivated in bags filled with 3.5 L of a commercial substrate mixture, in a plant density of 6.6 plants/m². The reference doses for the different fertilizers, in g/plant/week, was 0.235 KNO3; 0.365 Ca(NO3)2; 0.167 MgSO4; 0.087 superphosphate (20% P2O5), complemented with 0.008 mL of an iron chelate (5% Fe) and 0.038 mL of a mixture with remaining micronutrients. In 1998, the low treatment (T1) was the reference dose, and the amount of fertilizers in T2 and T3 were multiplied by a factor of two and three respectively. In 1999, the low doses (T4) corresponded to the amount of fertilizers used in the T3 treatment in 1998, and the quantities of fertilizers used in T5 and T6 were multiplied by a factor of 1.50 and 2.25, respectively. Nutrient solutions were supplied by fertigation at weekly intervals in separated rows, with 60 plants each one. In the period between the 8th and the 20th week after transplanting, the accumulation of shoot plant dry matter was determined at 21-day intervals. Ripe fruits were harvested and accumulated fruit fresh weight was recorded. Maximum fruit yield was obtained with 1.06 g KNO3, 1.64 g Ca(NO3)2; 0.75 MgSO4; 0.40 superphosphate (20% P2O5), 0.036 mL of iron chelate (5% Fe) and 0.17 mL of the micronutrient mixture per plant as weekly basis |
