| Resumen en inglés | The paper intends to show the originality of kierkegaardian thought in the existential analysis of the concepts of time and eternity. Both spiritual categories – which determine the reality of the self as an existent singular being – are dealt with by Kierkegaard in realtion to the instant of free decision, in which the temporal and the eternal are mutually implied and supported. The instant is the total presence of an absolute action, achieved in transcendence and extended in time. In the instant, eternity assumes the concrete character of human existence and free becoming is qualified as personal history. This absolute present, which is both full presence and reality, expresses thus the contemporaneousness of the self with itself, with the Other and the others |
| Resumen en portugués | O artigo propõe mostrar a originalidade do pensamento kierkegaardiano no tratamento existencial das noções de tempo e eternidade. Ambas categorias espirituais – determinantes da realidade do eu como sujeito singular existente – são abordadas por S. Kierkegaard em função do instante da decisão livre, no qual o temporal e o eterno se implicam e sustentam mutuamente. O instante constitui a presença total de uma ação absoluta, exercida na transcendência e prolongada no tempo. No instante, a eternidade assume o caráter concreto da existência humana e o devir livre fica qualificado como história pessoal. Este presente absoluto, que é presença e realidade plena, expressa assim a contemporaneidade do eu consigo mesmo, com o Outro e os outros |
