Resumen en inglés | From a comparison between the specialized literature and the work Aeneid, this article discusses the representation of female characters in this, scrutinizing its main characteristics. In the background of the discussion, we seek to situate the work of Virgil in his context, characterized by gradual changes that altered the status of women within the Roman society in the early decades of the imperial era. Finally, considering the social condition of the author and the expectations generated by his work, we check the relevance of thinking the representation of women in his work as an idealized model committed to political power |
