Resumen en inglés | This work evaluates distinctive spaces in female convents at the time of the imposition of common life. The principal sources studied are architectural appraisals. On the one hand, and as an example of common life, the different spaces in the beaterio of Santa Rosa during the process of becoming a convent are identified and described. On the other hand, the cells of different calced nuns’ convents are analyzed and compared, for they are the most representative buildings of private life. The text also discusses their relationship with housing of the time and the images of an ideal convent in the writings of bishop Francisco Fabian y Fuero |
