| Resumen en inglés | Sixty four specimens of Mictaxius thalassicola were captured during sampling effort car - ried out in the Golfo de Santa Fe, northeastern Venezuela. Samples were taken in shallow waters between 0.5-1.5 m depth, This species is characterized by showing the anterodorsal margin of carapace slightly projected forward, antennal angle rounded, lacking definite rostrum, eyestalks completely exposed, and linea thalassinica complete. Abdomen slightly compressed laterally, first abdominal somite with triangular posteroventral lobe. Uropodal exopod bilobed, exterior lobe with spines on distal margin, endopod oval with setose margin. Telson semicircular, wider than long. M thalassicola inhabits in shallow beds of the seagrass Thalassia testudinum with fine sand substrate (0,0690-0,22913 μm).
