| Resumen en español | Este artículo propone una interpretación amplificada de la serie La Peste en Ceppaloni (1977-1997) del artista-arquitecto ítalo-argentino Clorindo Testa, que consiste en un conjunto de mapas, dibujos y murales que trabajan en torno a la incidencia de los problemas ecológicos en la condición humana y su hábitat. El texto plantea en su desarrollo una triple aproximación a la obra: narrativa-visual, arqueológica y antropológica. Se descifra la estructura de mito dibujado que se desarrolla en el Medievo en la ciudad italiana de Ceppaloni, de donde procede la familia de Testa, y el rol de sus protagonistas: roedores, «untadores», el propio arquitecto, la villa medieval y su castillo, así como el itinerario de la peste negra durante el siglo xiv. Esta serie tiene un correlato en el trabajo del autor que recupera la figuración para recobrar una idea de humanismo. En su manifiesto creativo arte, arquitectura y ecología cohabitan. Testa combina en esta serie lo popular y lo erudito con múltiples técnicas. La síntesis resultante forma parte del imaginario de la sociedad. Los dos relatos de la obra –la plaga y el deterioro ecológico– coexisten de manera análoga en los recientes años, y por ello resulta sugestiva su revisión en una suerte de exaltación del presente |
| Resumen en inglés | This article proposes an amplified interpretation of the series untitled The Plague in Ceppaloni (1977-1997) by the Italian Argentine artist-architect Clorindo Testa. This series contains a set of maps, drawings, and murals that narrates about the incidence of ecological problems in the human condition and habitat. The text raises in its development a triple approach to the work: the visual narrative, the archaeological and the anthropological. We decode the drawn myth structure that develops in the Middle Ages of the Italian city of Ceppaloni where the Testa comes from, and the role of its protagonists: rodents, «spreaders», the architect himself, the medieval town, and its castle, as well as the itinerary of the Black Death during the 14th century. This author recovers the artistic idea of figuration in his work, and the idea of humanism too. In his creative manifesto, art, architecture, and ecology coexist. In this series, Testa combines the popular and the erudite with multiple techniques. The resulting synthesis is part of the imaginary of society. The two versions of the work –the plague and the ecological deterioration– coexist currently, and for this reason, its revision is a suggestive kind of exaltation of the present |
