| Resumen en inglés | The cataract constitutes the main cause of blindness in the world. Affecting a half of person older than 65 year is a natural process of progressive opaqueness of the crystalline one. The only way of eliminating the cataract is to extract the opaque crystalline one and to replace it with an intraocular lens through the surgery. The application of laser is the first significant advance in cataracts surgery from 1967, when the emulsifier appeared by ultrasounds, and according to the studies, it is very probable that it helps to improve the cataract surgery for being more rapid, effective and sure. |
| Resumen en español | La catarata constituye la principal causa de ceguera en el mundo. Afecta a la mitad de los mayores de 65 años, es un proceso natural de opacidad progresiva del cristalino. La única manera de eliminar la catarata es extraer el cristalino opaco y sustituirlo por una lente intraocular a través de la cirugía. El láser de fentosegundos es el primer avance significativo en cirugía de cataratas desde 1967, cuando apareció la facoemulsificación por ultrasonidos, y según los estudios realizados, es muy probable que contribuya a mejorar la cirugía de catarata por ser más rápido, eficaz y seguro. |
