| Resumen en inglés | The awareness of landscape stimulatesa cognitive attitude towards the signs of the world. Such behavior guided the study of the remaining area of the old Diamond District, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Three centuries of mining have left deep vestiges of this activity in the beautiful and diverse environment of the Espinhaço mountain range. This article proposes a critical debate about the heritage dimension of the landscape carved by diggers or garimpeiros. The methodology is based on the notions of visible landscape andlived landscape,and aims to raise tensions of the territory and to build a narrative about the garimpeiroslandscape. The work required text and cartographic sources, as well as fieldwork. The results confirm the lack of knowledge about this traditional population. They also impose a reflection about inclusive social development policies, and the need for a concept of tourism that is capable of being integrated in this purpose. This demands the structuring of a knowledge basisand identification of this landscape |
| Resumen en portugués | A consciência da paisagem estimula uma atitude cognitiva diante dos signos do mundo. Esta atitude orientou o estudo da área remanescente do antigo Distrito Diamantino, em Minas Gerais, Brasil. Os três séculos de atividade minerária deixaram vestígios profundos no belo e diverso ambiente da serra do Espinhaço. Este artigo visa propor um debate crítico sobre a dimensão patrimonial da paisagem garimpeira. A metodologia se apoiou nas noções de paisagem visívele paisagem vividapara fazer emergir as tensões do território e para construir uma narrativa sobre a paisagem. A leitura mobilizou fontes textuais, cartográficas e imersões de campo. Os resultados constatam o desconhecimento sobre populações tradicionaise impõem a reflexão sobre políticas inclusivas de desenvolvimento social e sobre uma concepção de turismo capaz de se integrar a este propósito, o que requer a estruturaçãode um sistema de conhecimento e de identificação desta paisagem |
