| Resumen en español | Hay diversos sentidos en torno al nihilismo propuesto por Nietzsche, incluso se habla de ello en plural: “nihilismos”. Aquí hemos optado por una interpretación propia considerando el relato de Herman Melville, “Bartleby, el escribiente”, como una encarnación del nihilismo. Se trata de pensar la posible relación entre ciertas formas de nihilismo y Bartleby a la luz y la sombra de las reflexiones que Deleuze hace de Nietzsche. Nuestra hipótesis es que Bartleby es una viva expresión de nihilismo y que esto constituye un elemento sustancial del quehacer educativo. | Resumen en inglés | There are various meanings around the nihilism proposed by Nietzsche, even we can talk about nihilism in plural. In this essay we develop an original interpretation of nihilism considering an interpretation of Herman Melville’s story “Bartleby, the scrivener” as an incarnation of nihilism. The aim is to think the possible relationship between certain forms of nihilism and Bartleby in the perspective of the lights and shades of the reflections made by Deleuze about Nietzsche. Our hypothesis is that Bartleby is a vivid expression of nihilism, and that this fact constitutes a substantial element for educational work. In other words, education is an act essentially nihilistic. Why turn to Nietzsche’s nihilistic conception to think the possibility of education? When Bartleby says “I would prefer not to”, it can be interpreted as the nihilism of the will, its capability to deny, and also the nihilism of the last man |
