Resumen en inglés | This article studies the Araucanian War as an historical-cultural process which because its century-long duration (1550-1665) provided an evironment for the clash between two cultures: the Spanish and the Mapuche. Both societies, linke by a common characterm that of beingd warriors, entered a process of transculturation. The social contact went beyond some essential aspects of the Mapuche culture, upsetting some traditional elements such as work, cooking, clothing, physical appearance and other elements tied to crossbreeding |
