Resumen en inglés | Alzheimer´s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia among older people. While the causes of Alzheimer are not get fully understood, its effect on the brain is clear. During the course of the disease, protein “plaques” and “tangles” develop in the structure of the brain, leading to the death of brain cells. Age and family history are risk factors for AD. Since there is not a solid diagnosis biomarker, the diagnostic is eminaenthy clinic. The diagnosis is difficult especially on the initial states. New criteria and guidelines to diagnose AD has been recently changed acknowledging that Alzheimer´s disease begins several years before any symptoms related with the cognitive functions, specially recent memory lost, present themselves. AD has no current cure, but treatment for symptoms are avaiable |
