| Resumen en español | A comienzos del siglo XXI Catamarca y Tucumán mostraban diferencias importantes en el plano social y económico. Mientras que la primera, con una estructura productiva más reducida y tradicional, tenía el menor porcentaje de hogares pobres de todo el Norte Grande Argentino, Tucumán, sufría mayores niveles de pobreza, siendo su economía la más desarrollada del norte del país. Teniendo en cuenta que la pobreza se encuentra íntimamente relacionada con la economía, el presente artículo busca analizar las características de la pobreza en Tucumán y Catamarca en el año 2001, e indagar acerca de las relaciones que hubo entre los niveles diferenciales de privación de ambas provincias y las transformaciones que sufrieron sus respectivas estructuras productivas en las últimas décadas del siglo XX. |
| Resumen en inglés | In the beginning of the 21st Century Catamarca and Tucumán were showing important differences in social and economic level. While the first, with a more reduced and tradicional productive structure, had the less percentage of poor homes in the whole "Norte Grande Argentino", Tucumán suffered major levels of poverty, being its economy the most developed of the north of the country. Having in mind that the poverty is intimately related to the economy, the present article is trying to analyze the characteristics of the poverty in Tucumán and Catamarca in 2001, and to investigate about the relations which existed between the differential levels of privation in both provinces and the transformations which suffered their respective productive structures in the last decades of the 20th century. |
