| Resumen en español | El "Hotel" Carrión fue un centro de detención migratoria que operó en Quito entre 2013 y 2017. ¿Qué efectos tiene llamar "hotel" a un lugar de detención, confundir hospitalidad con administración del cuerpo? El presente texto vuelve a este lugar de la mano de personas allí detenidas que lograron salir y otras que vivieron la detención de sus seres queridos. El análisis aborda la eufemización de la detención y la visión de la deportación como "trámite administrativo" que encubre la violencia estatal, normaliza la criminalización de la movilidad humana y minimiza las experiencias de angustia y sufrimiento |
| Resumen en inglés | The "Hotel" Carrión was a migrant detention center that operated in Quito between 2013 and 2017. What are the effects of calling a place of detention a "hotel", confusing hospitality with the administration of the body? This text returns to this place by the hand of people detained who managed to leave and others who experienced the detention of their loved ones. The analysis addresses the euphemization of detention and the view of deportation as an "administrative procedure" that conceals state violence, normalizes the criminalization of human mobility, and minimizes experiences of anguish and suffering |
