| Resumen en español | Este artículo hace un recorrido crítico de la producción de conocimiento sobre la juventud, particularmente rural, en América Latina. Plantea, entre otros aspectos, la falta de investigación científico-social —especialmente desde la antropología y la sociología rural— en dimensiones fundamentales como la conformación de las juventudes rurales como sujetos identitarios y actores sociales. Se analizan los elementos teóricos contextúales que han provocado esta carencia, así como los aportes que pudieran cimentar una preocupación científico-social sistemática. El estudio propone una reelaboración conceptual de algunas aproximaciones teóricas sobre identidad juvenil, con el fin de resolver las carencias en la generación de conocimiento sobre estos actores, la mayoría de las veces negados, por lo que se vuelven "invisibles" o estereotipados desde el punto de vista de su existencia sociocultural. Finalmente, se presentan algunos avances de la investigación antropológica en Chile a partir de historias de vida cuyo fin es retroalimentar la discusión sobre el surgimiento de las juventudes rurales como actores sociales y sujetos identitarios desde una perspectiva diacrónica |
| Resumen en inglés | This article takes a critical journey through the production of knowledge on youth, particularly rural, in Latin America. It suggests, among other things, a lack in social scientific investigation — especially on behalf of rural anthropology and sociology — in fundamental areas such as the formation of rural youth as identitarian subjects and social actors. It analyzes contextual theoretical elements that provoke this deficiency, as well as the contributions that could cement a systematic social scientific concern. The study proposes the conceptual restructuring of some theoretical approximations to youth identity with the aim of filling some of the gaps in the generation of knowledge on these actors, more frequently than not denied and thus made "invisible" or stereotyped from the point of view of their socio-cultural existence. Finally, it presents some advances in anthropological investigation in Chile, starting from life histories with the aim of offering feedback to the discussion on the emergence of rural youth as social actors and identitarian subjects from a diachronic point of view |
