Resumen en inglés | Thin-film coatings of titanium (Ti) and titanium-zirconium alloy (TiZr) were deposited on AISI 304 stainless steel substrates via Pulsed Vapor Deposition – Non-reactive DC Magnetron Sputtering technique in argon environment, with Ti precursor targets with 99.99% purity and Ti-Zr alloy (70/30).Corrosion and tribology measurements were conducted for the coatings mentioned; observing potentiodynamic curves, the pitting and corrosion potential was determined for the steel and the thin films by using an electrolyte solution of NaCl 3.5% p/p using an Hg/KCl electrode saturated at 37 °C (human body temperature). Results revealed that the coatings increased the pitting potential augmenting the useful life of the substrate. Through the Ball-on-Disc system the friction coefficient (FC) was determined, as well as the rate of wear for the AISI 304, Ti, and Ti-30Zr systems, observing metallic tribological behavior. Morphological analyses of the wear track, along with the shape of the corrosion pitting were conducted through optical microscopy |
