| Resumen en español | Introducción: la teoría del género testimonial en América Latina se construyó a partir de dos obras (Biografía de un cimarrón y Me llamo Rigoberta Menchú), basándose en el concepto marxista de la lucha de clases y canonizando una sola variante. Todos los demás testimonios que no calzaron en este modelo perdieron importancia o fueron ignorados. Objetivo: sondear los principales aspectos y problemas que organizaron la teoría del género testimonial y analizar las discusiones que clausuraron el género, las cuales no consideraron que la crisis teórico-metodológica afectaba únicamente a sus estudios y no a la producción de testimonios. Método: revisión crítica de la literatura. Resultados: el análisis realizado revela que si bien los testimonial studies entraron en crisis, éste no es el caso para la producción de testimonios, que siguen apareciendo y que constituyen este género narrativo. Conclusiones: frente a esto, planteamos la necesidad de reabrir el debate desde otros corpora y otras categorías de análisis |
| Resumen en inglés | Introduction: The theory of testimonial literature in Latin America emerged from two works (Biography of a Runaway Slave and I, Rigoberta Menchú), is based on the Marxist concept of class struggle, and acknowledges only one type. Testimonios that do not fit this model have lost importance or been ignored. Objective: To explore the main ideas and issues in the theory surrounding testimonial literature, and to analyze the discussions that brought the genre to a close; these discussions did not take into account the fact that the theoretical-methodological crisis affected the field of testimonial studies but did not affect the creation of new testimonios. Method: Critical literature review. Results: Although testimonial studies have entered a crisis, new testimonios continue to be produced. Conclusions: We posit the need to rekindle the debate based on different corpora and other categories of analysis |
