| Resumen en inglés | The commemoration of the bicentennial of Peruvian independence has sought to make visible in the historiography issues not addressed, such as the role of women, the role played by the common people, the performance of the regions during the emancipatory process, etc. Continuing with these lines of research, the objective of the article is to develop an analysis of the perspective that different travelers had of Trujillo in the context of the independence wars. We seek to understand the opinion that foreigners had about trade, population, and, especially the political participation of the region during the war. |
| Resumen en español | La conmemoración del bicentenario de la independencia peruana ha buscado visibilizar en la historiografía temáticas no abordadas, tales como el papel de la mujer, el rol jugado por la plebe, el desempeño de las regiones durante el proceso emancipador, entre otras. Continuando con esas líneas de investigación, el objetivo del artículo es desarrollar una aproximación a la perspectiva que distintos viajeros tuvieron de la ciudad de Trujillo en el contexto de las guerras de independencia. Así, buscamos comprender la opinión que los foráneos tuvieron sobre el comercio, la población y, sobre todo la participación política de la región durante la guerra. |
