| Resumen en inglés | This article investigates the usage and motivation of John Calvin regarding the wisdom literature in the Old Testament, aiming to identify an exegetical underpinning governing his practice of quoting Scripture. Instead of compiling a simple index of biblical passages, this study is after paradigms in the way the reformer builds his argumentation in the Institutes. The present study wants to make a contribution to the renewal of interest in wisdom literature in the Old Testament, an interest that follows some steps of the exegetical outlook of the great reformer John Calvin |
| Resumen en portugués | Este artigo investiga a utilização e o interesse de Calvino pela literatura sapiencial do Antigo Testamento, tentando identificar um perfil exegético que governe tal uso. Evitando apresentar uma simples lista de ocorrências em forma de índice de citações, o artigo se propõe a identificar padrões de interesse e uso que o reformador manifesta à medida que constrói seu argumento teológico nas Institutas. O presente estudo visa contribuir para um despertamento do interesse pela literatura sapiencial do Antigo Testamento, um interesse guiado pelo perfil exegético do grande reformador de Genebra |
