Resumen en español En este trabajo se analizan las condiciones del medio físico que determinan el paisaje natural y que influyen sobre el habitat que se caracteriza por la influencia que sobre el tienen aspectos históricos prehispánicos y de tenencia de la tierra principalmente. Este análisis se realizó en la zona del piedemonte poblano de los volcanes Popocatépetl e Iztaccíhuatl, que se localizan en la parte central de la República Mexicana, cuyas distintas etapas de actividad han conformado la estructura del piedemonte sobre el cual se encuentran instalados antiguos núcleos de población
Resumen en inglés In this paper an anlysis will be made of the conditions of the physical surroundings which determine the natural landscape and exert and influence on the habitat which is characteristic of the predominance which historic, prehispanic and, especially, the land tenure aspects have over it. This analysis was carried out on the zone at the piedemont of the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanos which are located in the central part of the Mexican Republic and whose diverse stages of activity have adjusted the structure at the base of the mountain where ancient nuclei of indian populations are established
