| Resumen en español | En los últimos años del siglo pasado comenzaron a ocurrir procesos de cambio importantes en la región conocida como los Altos de Chiapas, México, que no se manifestaron de manera uniforme en los diferentes municipios que la conforman. El propósito de este ensayo es hacer un breve ejercicio reflexivo que permita rediscutir ciertas posiciones sobre la forma de interpretar saberes y prácticas médicas en un grupo indígena específico: tzeltales tenejapanecos1, en función de los procesos de pluralismo religioso y de nuevas tendencias fundamentalistas y ecumenistas que afectan actualmente a esta población y que en su momento quedaron como elementos para futuras reflexiones |
| Resumen en inglés | In the last years of the past century important processes of change began to occur in the region known as «Altos de Chiapas», Mexico. The changes however are not homogeneous but show differences in the many municipalities of the region. Some of the aspects that produce this diversity are: the mexican state politics concerning the indians, especially of Chiapaneco, the presence of new political and religious groups, the immigration towards new sources of work,and the «assumption» that the better health services for the indian population are to be found in other towns. All these aspects allow us to observe these changes and their consequences in the conformation of new social- cultural processes in the region. It is the purpose of this paper to make a brief analysis in order to discuss certain positions about the way to interprete knowledge and medical practices in an indian group, specifically theTzeltales Tenejapanecos. We will consider the processes of religious pluralism and the new fundamentalism and oecumenical tendencies that are affecting this population |
