| Resumen en español | La industria azucarera fue el principal factor de colonización de Cuba desde mediados del siglo XVIII. A partir de esta actividad se fueron conformando en lo social, lo económico y en el paisaje físico de las regiones donde se desarrolló, una identidad propia que responde a la producción del dulce. El territorio que ocupa la actual provincia de Villa Clara no es la excepción de este proceso. El batey azucarero derivado de las fábricas del dulce, constituye una expresión importante de esta identidad, por lo que caracterizar las estructuras urbanas que se fomentaron y crecieron adjuntas a centrales que estuvieron en explotación hasta el proceso de reestructuración acometido en el sector a partir del 2002 o que aún siguen activos, constituye el objetivo principal de este trabajo |
| Resumen en inglés | The sugar industry was the main factor of colonization of Cuba since the half of the XVIII century. Starting with this activity an own identity was conformed in the social, the economic and the physical aspects of the regions where it was developed, an own identity that responds to the production of the candy. The territory that occupies the current province of Villa Clara is not the exception of this process. The sugar batey derived of the factories of the candy, constitutes an important expression of this identity, because of that to characterize the urban structures that were fomented and grew enclosed to the sugar factories that were in exploitation until the restructuring process attacked in the sector starting from the 2002 or that installations that still continue active, constitutes the main objective of this work |
