| Resumen en español | Hipócrates (460-377 a.C), fue un pionero en el tratamiento de lesiones de cráneo. En su tratado titulado «Sobre heridas en la cabeza» da un típico ejemplo de cómo el método hipocrático llevó a la observación exacta de la anatomía del cráneo y lesiones del mismo. Es de hacer notar que la trepanación, la cual es aún uno de los procedimientos más utilizados en neurocirugía, es mencionada extensamente en este tratado. El trauma craneoencefálico es una patología frecuente en la vida moderna. La mayoría de los accidentes graves en el hogar, el trabajo y tránsito de vehículos, así como lesiones por violencia urbana involucran en mayor o menor grado al trauma craneal. De ahí que el médico de primer contacto debe conocer el manejo correcto de este tipo de pacientes, aplicando el ABCDE de la reanimación en todo paciente traumatizado, ya que este abordaje evitará un daño secundario más grave y salva rá la vida del paciente. Es necesario por lo tanto actuar dentro de un protocolo de manejo que incluya la interconsulta directa con el neurocirujano, el traslado temprano y adecuado de estos pacientes a un centro especializado, con lo cual se reduce la morbilidad y mortalidad en forma muy importante |
| Resumen en inglés | Hipócrates (460-377 AC), was a pioneer in the treatment of skull injuries. In his treaty titled «On hurt in the head» it gives a typical example of as the Hippocratic method I take to the exact observation of the anatomy of the skull and injuries of him himself. It is to make notice that the trepanation, which is still one of the used procedures more in neurosurgery, is mentioned extensively in this treaty. The cranioencephalic trauma is a frequent pathology in the modern life. Most of the serious accidents in the home, the work and transit of vehicles, as well as injuries by urban violence involve in greater or smaller degree the cranial trauma. For that reason the doctor of first contact must know the handling correct this type of patients, applying the ABCDE of the resuscitation in all traumatized patient, since this boarding avoided more serious a secondary damage and will save the life of the patient. It is necessary therefore to act within a handling protocol that includes the direct interconsultation with the neurosurgeon, the early and suitable transfer of these patients to a specialized center, with which he is reduced to the morbidity and mortality in very important form |
