| Resumen en español | La Araucanía, en la República de Chile, fue anexada a fines del siglo XIX, a través de una ocupación militar, trazando líneas de ocupación en las que fue fundamental la construcción de fuertes. Los cementerios de la Araucanía son reflejo precisamente de esta diversidad, de la concepción de viaje del pueblo mapuche en sus innumerables reducciones a las cuales fueron relegados, conservando una estrecha relación entre sujeto y naturaleza, unión que simboliza variados códigos de un estado de preparación de la muerte, entendido como un viaje a una plataforma superior. Los cementerios de la Araucanía presentan una variedad única; se distingue allí el contraste evidente entre lo terrenal y lo divino en sus diversas formas aportadas por las heterogéneas culturas que convergieron. Formas que dan cuenta de conceptos de vanidad, descanso, resguardo, cobijo, entre otros, con un sentido único: dar cuenta de la vida más que la de la muerte |
| Resumen en inglés | The Araucania in the Republic of Chile was annexed in the late nineteenth century, through a military occupation by drawing lines of occupation that was instrumental in building strong. Thus this region whose membership was ancestral Mapuche people with all its symbolism was giving way to thousands of occupants of different nationalities as part of a process of colonization agricultural driven from the State. The cemeteries of Araucania, reflect precisely this diversity of conception travel of the Mapuche people in countless communities we were relegated, while retaining a close relationship between subject and nature, symbolizing union codes varied from a state of preparedness of death, understood as a journey to a higher platform. The cemeteries of Araucania, from the architectural point of view presents a unique variety, there are there, the obvious contrast between the earthly and the divine in its various forms provided by the diverse cultures that converged. Ways to realize notions of vanity, rest, protection, shelter, among other with a single meaning: to give an account of life, rather than that of death. This publication is a record of major events that capture the mortuary architecture and is manifested in the expression of the Mapuche and non-Mapuche death |
