| Resumen en inglés | This article proposes a comprehension about the Laity, taking as reference some documents of the Ecclesiastical Magisterium, after the Second Vatican Council II (1962-1965). The focus will be the pontificates of Paul VI and John Paul II for two main reasons. The former is due to the fact that the conciliar interpretation of the Laity is present in these two popes, with their respective advances and limits. The latter is due to the fact that the resumption of the reflection about the theme, in the documents promulgated by the respective pontificates, will help in the comprehension of the laity in the pontificate of Benedict VI. Therefore, the article has a diachronic perspective as it recovers the historical and chronological referential of both pontificates, and a synchronic perspective as it studies some Ecclesiastical documents, such as: the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi (1975), the Code of Canon Law, promulgated in 1983, the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Christifidelis Laici (1987) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1993). The historic context, in which it was developed, and its respective theological and doctrinal approaches help with the understanding of the challenges and impasses concerning the laity still present inside the Catholic Church, as well as in its relationship with the contemporary society |
| Resumen en portugués | Este artigo propõe uma compreensão sobre o laicato, tendo como referência alguns do Magistério Eclesiástico posteriores à realização do Concílio Vaticano II (1962-1965). O foco será os pontificados de Paulo VI e João Paulo II, por duas razões fundamentais. A primeira é pelo fato de a interpretação conciliar sobre o laicato se encontrar presente nesses dois papas, com seus respectivos avanços e limites. A segunda é que a retomada da reflexão sobre o tema, nos documentos promulgados pelos respectivos pontificados, ajudará na compreensão do laicato no pontificado de Bento XVI. Portanto, o artigo tem uma erspectiva diacrônica, quando resgata os referenciais históricos e cronológicos dos dois pontificados, e uma perspectiva sincrônica, quando estuda alguns documentos eclesiásticos, tais como: a Exortação Apostólica Pós-Sinodal Evangelii Nuntiandi (1975); o Código de Direito Canônico, promulgado em 1983; a Exortação Apostólica Pós-Sinodal Christifidelis Laici (1987); e o Catecismo da Igreja Católica (1993). O contexto histórico em que foram elaborados e suas respectivas abordagens teológicas e doutrinais ajudam no entendimento dos desafios e impasses a respeito do laicato ainda presentes no interior da Igreja Católica e na sua relação com a sociedade contemporânea |
