| Resumen en español | La afectación ocular secundaria a candidemia suele ocurrir frecuentemente en pacientes cuyo estado de salud se encuentra comprometido, ya sea por déficits inmunitarios, presencia de catéteres o cirugías recientes. Por ello es necesario realizar un diagnóstico temprano unido a un seguimiento estrecho de la enfermedad. Actualmente existen diversas opciones de diagnóstico por imagen que nos permiten llevar a cabo esta evaluación, permitiéndonos hacer un seguimiento del proceso inflamatorio e infeccioso, así como identificar las complicaciones que pueden surgir en este. Presentamos el caso de una paciente mujer de 22 años con coriorretinitis por cándida en el contexto de un ingreso hospitalario por reintervención de cirugía bariátrica. Durante el trascurso de la enfermedad fue tratada con antifúngicos intravenosos, pasando a tratamiento intravítreo con voriconazol y aflibercept en el ojo derecho por la progresión de la infección y la aparición de una membrana neovascular coroidea, detectada por medio de la imagen multimodal |
| Resumen en inglés | Ocular involvement secondary to candidemia usually occurs in patients whose health status is compromised, either due to immunological deficits, the presence of catheters or recent surgeries. Therefore, it is necessary to make an early diagnosis together with a close monitoring of the disease. Nowadays, there are many diagnostic imaging options that allow us to carry out this evaluation, and also to monitor the inflammatory and infectious process, as well as identify the complications that arise in it. We present the case of a 22-year-old female patient with candida chorioretinitis in the context of a hospital admission for reintervention of bariatric surgery. During the course of the disease, she was treated with intravenous antifungals, switching to intravitreal treatment with voriconazole and aflibercept in the right eye due to the progression of the infection and the appearance of a choroidal neovascular membrane, detected through multimodal imaging |
