| Resumen en español | Un aspirante al Bachillerato a Distancia de la unam (b@UNAM) tiene que cursar tres propedéuticos: Estrategias de aprendizaje a distancia, Lectura y Redacción, y Matemáticas. Una vez acreditados, el alumno debe cursar un plan curricular de 24 asignaturas. Tanto en los cursos propedéuticos, como en las asignaturas, la atención se brinda por tres figuras importantes: el asesor que es experto en contenido; el tutor, que apoya al estudiante para diseñar estrategias que le faciliten completar con éxito sus estudios; y el coordinador académico y operativo, que de forma global apoya al tutor y al asesor en el diseño e implementación de estrategias académicas. En este artículo nos centraremos en la figura del tutor y la importancia que tiene en el seguimiento del alumno a lo largo del Bachillerato a Distancia, mencionaremos las etapas que realiza un aspirante a tutor para obtener su certificación, las actividades y funciones que éste realiza durante un curso o asignatura y finalmente, a través de dos ejemplos se describe la tutoría en el b@ unam y cómo este modelo logra la retención dentro del programa |
| Resumen en inglés | A prospective student of the Bachillerato a Distancia de la unam (b@unam) has to go through three preparatory courses: Distance Learning Strategies, Reading and Writing, and Mathematics. Once the student has passed the courses, he must complete a study plan consisting of 24 subjects. Both in the preparatory courses and in the afore mentioned subjects, three important figures are paying close attention to the student: the advisor, who is the expert in terms of content; the tutor, who helps the student to design strategies in order to facilitate the succesful completion of his studies; and the academic and operative coordinator, who, in a generalized maner, helps the tutor and advisor with the design and application of academic strategies. This article will focus on the tutor, and on the importance of academic follow-up assesment for the duration of the Online High School Program. We will mention the stages that an aspiring tutor has to go through in order to get his certification. Also, the activities and functions he performs during either a preparatory course, or one of the 24 subjects. And, finally, through two examples, we will describe the process of tutoring at b@ unam, and how this model achieves the retaining of students within the program |
