| Resumen en español | En la anestesia para la cirugía de tórax se le pide al anestesiólogo, con mayor frecuencia, experiencia en el manejo de varios dispositivos para el aislamiento pulmonar. El más utilizado es el tubo de doble luz y aunque los anestesiólogos han desarrollado la habilidad para ubicarlo sin el uso del fibrobroncoscopio con no poca frecuencia se tienen problemas en el intraoperatorio. Se decidió evaluar una técnica diferente que consiste en la intubación con un tubo de luz única observando variables como el tiempo de intubación, el número de intentos de intubación y las complicaciones intraoperatorias con este tipo de tubo. Se evaluaron 20 pacientes y en el 85% se logró la intubación en el primer intento y el 15% restante en el segundo intento con un promedio de 82.5 segundos. Se logró la intubación selectiva en el 100% de los pacientes y sólo en 1 de ellos se tuvieron problemas en el intraoperatorio. Se demuestra que el tubo de luz única es un dispositivo de bajo costo que sumado a una técnica sencilla es una herramienta rápida y fácil de aprender para lograr la intubación selectiva en cirugía de tórax |
| Resumen en inglés | With increasing frequency the anaesthesiologist is asked to be expert in the handling of several devices for lung isolation during anaesthesia for thoracic surgery. The most used device is the double-lumen tube and although the anaesthesiologists have developed the skills necessary for placement of the tube without the need of the bronchoscope, frequently there are problems during the surgery. We decided to evaluate a different technique consisting in intubation with a single-lumen tube observing for variables like intubation time, number of attempts of intubation and complications during surgery. Twenty patients were evaluated and in 85% of them the intubation was achieved in the first attempt and the remaining 15% was achieved in the second attempt with an average time of intubation of 82.5 seconds. The lung isolation was accomplished in the 100% of the patients and only in one patient problems during the surgery were suffered. We found that the single-lumen tube is an inexpensive device which added to a simple technique may become in a quick and easy learning tool to achieve lung isolation in thoracic surgery |
