| Resumen en español | La investigación disciplinar en archivística es un tema vital en el momento actual, caracterizado por profundos cambios en la sociedad y, por ende, en la disciplina. Este artículo presenta los resultados de la investigación relacionados con la evolución del concepto de archivística. La investigación se llevó a cabo mediante el método de investigación documental, que tuvo como propósito explorar los principales autores y sus definiciones de archivística desde finales del siglo XIX hasta inicios del siglo XXI. Con base en ellos se analizaron los elementos constitutivos del concepto: naturaleza, finalidad y características, lo que evidenció las lentas transformaciones que ha sufrido el concepto y la necesidad de estudiar los contextos para el fortalecimiento de la disciplina |
| Resumen en inglés | Disciplinary research in archival science is a vital issue at present, characterized by profound changes in society and, therefore, in the discipline. This article presents the research results related to the evolution of the archival science concept. The research was carried out through the documentary research method, which had the purpose of exploring the main authors and their definitions of archival science from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century. Based on them, the constitutive elements of the concept were analyzed: nature, purpose, and characteristics, which evidenced the slow transformations that the concept has undergone and the need to study the contexts to strengthen the discipline |
