| Resumen en español | El SIDA se ha convertido en una pandemia mundial. En Venezuela se han realizado diferentes esfuerzos para combatirlo con Programas de Promoción de la Salud con enfoque socioambiental. Por tal razón, se plantea la necesidad de realizar talleres de Capacitación Docente como una Actividad de Extensión Acreditable de UPEL/IPC. Con este propósito en mente, se comienza un estudio exploratorio para detectar necesidades de capacitación y diseñar y ejecutar talleres de formación docente como promotores de prevención de infección por VIH y su consecuencia el SIDA. En el estudio participaron 30 docentes voluntarios por cada estado, quienes habían asistido a talleres del CENAMEC. Se organizaron en tres grupos diferentes según el género. Para conocer los significados que las y los docentes manejan en relación con el VIH/SIDA, se trabaja con Teoría Fundamentada de Glaser y Strauss (1967) y se aplica la técnica de grupos focales. Al inicio, en el análisis de los datos se identifican seis categorías teóricas y al hacerlas más selectivas quedan sólo tres. Al explicitarlas y desglosarlas se precisan los contenidos del taller. Las tres categorías son: 1.- Información acerca del VIH/SIDA. 2.- Cultura personal de prevención. 3.- Aspectos socioculturales. Como producto de estos hallazgos se hacen recomendaciones para el diseño del taller y elaboración de materiales de divulgación para las escuelas. | Resumen en inglés | In this study (big) particular attention (importance) is given to the prevention of the VIH/SIDA in the school environment since this syndrome has turned into a world pandemic. With this intention in mind, (it was begun to make) an exploratory study was carried out with the purpose of detecting teachers´ needs of training in order to design and offer workshops for promoters of prevention of this infection and its syndrome, in the school environment. This way, it was considered to detect the knowledge, beliefs and sociocultural aspects related to the VIH/SIDA of the teachers which are the product of their processes of socialization and might affect the putting in practice of the workshop in the schools. The study was completed during 2006-2007. Thirty (30) voluntary teachers were participating, who attended workshops of the National Center for the Education of the Science (CENAMEC) in Caracas. They were organized in three different groups according to the gender. In order to know the meanings they gave to the VIH/SIDA, the Grounded Theory of Glaser and Strauss (1967) was applied together with a focal group technique. In the analysis of the data six (6) theoretical categories were identified. Also their dimensions and the relation between them were identified to generate the contents of the workshop. The mayor categories found are: 1. Information about the VIH/SIDA. 2.Personal culture of prevention. 3. Sociocultural aspects.
