| Resumen en español | La historia de las bibliotecas de la Nueva España, tanto aquellas que fueron de particulares como las que fundaron y conformaron todas las órdenes religiosas, es una historia dispersa, inconclusa, desconocida y, por lo tanto, sujeta a múltiples mitificaciones. En efecto, pese al inmenso desarrollo que en otras latitudes ha alcanzado la historia de las bibliotecas, en México el conocimiento histórico de las colecciones del pasado novohispano no parece tener mucho interés pese a que se conservan importantes testimonios bibliográficos y documentales que dan cuenta de la riqueza y complejidad de esos acervos durante los tres siglos del Virreinato novohispano |
| Resumen en inglés | The history of libraries in New Spain, those that were private and those that were founded and put together by the religious orders, is a disperse, unfinished and unknown history and is therefore subject to several modifications. Indeed, despite the immense development that the history of libraries has reached in other places, in Mexico, the historical knowledge of the collection of the colonial past does not seem to have much interest, even though these libraries preserve important bibliographical and documented testimonies that convey the richness and complexity of the heritage during the three centuries of the Colonial Viceroyalty |
