| Resumen en inglés | All foundationalist theories agree that there are some justified basic beliefs that don’t own their justification in virtue of bei ng inferred from other justified beliefs, thus stopping the epistemic regress. For the intern alist view the justifier must be cognitively available to the believer, who bases hi s belief on it. In consequence of this twofold demand - stopping the epistemic regress at noninferentially justified beliefs, and securing the believer’s awareness of the item t hat contributes to the justification of such epistemic independent basic beliefs – a few cr itics have raised some objections against the internalist foundationalism. In this pa per I consider one of these objections, regarding specifically BonJour’s theory: the Bergma nn’s dilemma for internalism |
| Resumen en portugués | Todas as teorias fundacionistas assumem que algum as crenças justificadas são básicas porque sua justificação não se deve ao fato de terem sido inferidas de outras crenças justificadas, interrompendo assim o regress o epistêmico. A versão internalista do fundacionismo sustenta que uma crença só pode se r justificada quando o fator justificador está cognitivamente disponível ao suje ito que crê com base nele. Tendo em vista esta dupla exigência – dar por encerrado o re gresso epistêmico em crenças que são justificadas de modo não inferencial, e assegurar a consciência do item que contribui para a justificação de tais crenças básicas epistem icamente independentes – alguns críticos levantaram objeções contra o fundacionismo internalista.
