| Resumen en inglés | The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between the locus of control dimensions and the human values dimensions. The participants were 355 university students from Aracaju city, Sergipe (female: 62,8%; single: 80%), with average age of 25,68 years (ranging from 17 to 56 years). The students answered the Reyes locus of control scale and Schwartz values scale. The results indicate that the instruments were adequate to measure the purpose the objectives, presenting satisfactory measuring conditions. The locus of control was analyzed as two factors, internal and external and the values in four factors, auto-transcendence values, auto-promotion values, openness to change values and conservation values. Analyses revealed partial correlations between the variables. The discussion details the inter-relations between the cognitive and psychosocial variables, and the compatibility and conflict levels in the variables |
| Resumen en portugués | O presente estudo teve como objetivo central analisar as relações entre locus de controle e valores. Participaram 355 universitários de Sergipe, a maioria do sexo feminino (62,8%) e solteiros (80%), com média de idade de 25,68 anos (amplitude de 17 a 56 anos). Os estudantes responderam à escala de nqewu de controle de Reyes e a escala de valores de Schwartz. Os resultados indicaram ser os instrumentos aptos a mensurar o proposto pelo objetivo, apresentando índices psicométricos satisfatórios. O nqewu de controle foi analisado a partir de dois fatores, nqewu de controle interno e externo e os valores a partir de quatro indicadores, valores de autotranscendência, autopromoção, abertura à mudança e conservação. Foram evidenciadas correlações parciais entre as variáveis. As conclusões discorrem sobre a interrelação entre as variáveis cognitivas e psicossociais, trazendo à tona uma discussão acerca dos níveis de compatibilidade e conflito presentes nas variáveis desta ordem |
