Resumen en inglés Raúl Ruiz developed a theoretical and film program ranging from the need for a behavioral self-identification of society represented in his films to the articulation of a filmic discourse that created a crisis in conventional film grammar. By reference to the stage of his work that ends with the Exiled dialogues (1975) premiere, this paper attempts to discuss the particularity of Ruiz’s work within the New Chilean Cinema and the relationship of this with the victory of the Popular Unity in 1970. First, the films Three sad tigers (1968) and White little dove (1973) are used to identify the main cinematographic film operations that characterize the discourse of Raúl Ruiz’s "Chilean time". Then, the theoretical scope of film inquiry is set, emphasizing the anthropological gesture of this proposal and its relationship with the socio-political reality of those years. This will serve to deepen the political scope of a cinema that sought to generate identification with the anomalous behavior and discourse of the Chilean reality. The idea is to recognize the political gesture present in Ruiz's films, which aims to establish a new relationship with the real basis of a critical view of the Chilean social reality in Salvador Allende’s government
