| Resumen en inglés | At the end of the twentieth century a series of works appeared in Mexico, the new historical novel, whose narrative manifests another vision of past reality. Its characteristic is that it gives voice to the marginalized: female characters and minority groups that do not exactly have the category of heroes in the official history. In particular, the novel "Malinche" by the Mexican writer Laura Esquivel is analyzed. In this work, malinalli is given life, who in the war of conquest will be known as Malintzin, Malinche and later as Doña Marina. The novel vindicates the figure of this indigenous woman and manifests, following the guidelines of the new historical novel, a perspective where her private, emotional, sentimental and sexual life is appreciated; it also introduces us to a teenager who suddenly finds herself imbued with great responsibilities of political negotiation, filling her with uncertainties, fears and much courage to achieve her individual freedom. |
| Resumen en español | A finales del siglo XX aparecen en México una serie de obras, la nueva novela histórica, cuya narrativa manifiesta otra visión de la realidad pasada. Su característica es que le da voz a los marginados: personajes femeninos y grupos minoritarios que no tienen precisamente la categoría de héroes en la historia oficial. En particular se analiza la novela de "Malinche" de la escritora mexicana Laura Esquivel. En dicho trabajo, se le da vida a Malinalli, quien en la guerra de conquista será conocida como Malintzin, Malinche y ya después como Doña Marina. La novela reivindica la figura de esta indígena y manifiesta, siguiendo las pautas de la nueva novela histórica, una perspectiva donde se aprecia su vida privada, emocional, sentimental y sexual; asimismo nos presenta una adolescente que repentinamente se ve imbuida en grandes responsabilidades de negociación política, llenándola de incertidumbres, temores y mucho arrojo para conseguir su libertad individual. |
